The Rocky Mountain 900 MHz NMR facility was established through a grant from NIH General Medical Sciences to serve the high field NMR requirements of publicly funded research institutions in Rocky Mountain/West Central states. The initial consortium consisted of 17 research groups from 9 institutions in 6 states.

The W. M. Keck High Field NMR Facility serves the NMR community from the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and the University of Utah. The facility has a Varian Inova 800 MHz NMR Spectrometer with an Oxford Instruments 800/54 magnet operating at 2.2 K and a field strength of 18.8 Tesla that was initially installed in October of 2004. The NMR Facilities at the University of Colorado, Boulder maintain a variety of state-of-the-art NMR spectrometers at several magnetic fields to support the wide array of research needs of the entire University. The NMR spectrometers available for hands-on use are located in the Cristol Chemistry Building.
